Meet GM Financial's Katie Slevin-Pierce
Dealer Relationship Manager
Published June 22, 2012
Katie Slevin-Pierce hasn't been in the lending game long, but she's already made her presence
felt in a big way. In April, the North Carolina-based dealer relationship manager played a big role in
closing GM Financial's first floorplan deal.
"That was an awesome experience," Slevin-Pierce said. "Buddy Stasney (owner of Stasney's
Buick GMC in Lincolnton, N.C.) had been in floorplanning talks with us since last year, and he was very
enthusiastic about being our first floorplanning customer." (See related article.)
For Slevin-Pierce, who started her career with GM Financial only 11 months ago, the deal was a huge
milestone, but she's quick to recognize it was the experience and hard work of others that made it
happen. "Before coming to GM Financial, I spent 12 years in the auto industry working in a
dealership in various financial positions, but this is my first experience as a lender.
During the deal, I felt very fortunate to have Regional Sales Manager Chris Knapp helping me
out. He has previous floorplanning experience, which was a tremendous help. I also can't say
enough about our Commercial Lending team. Those guys did an excellent job and worked with both
sides to complete the sale of our floorplan product. Throughout the process, their help was truly
invaluable."
But while the deal was a great achievement, Slevin-Pierce says she's not resting on her laurels.
"I've got 33 dealers right now, and another seven more in application or underwriting status.
Nowadays, I'm focusing on our floorplan aspect to start the ball rolling in other dealerships, where
I can help out in an advisory role."
Slevin-Pierce says one of the best things about GM Financial's floorplan finance product is its
flexibility. "Historically, floorplanning has been rather limited, but our solutions can give dealers
options they may not have had before," she said. In addition to floorplanning, GM Financial's
Commercial Lending Services also offers products such as cash management, dealer loans, floorplan
insurance, and more.
